• We are delighted to welcome Jacky Fleming as our new Parish Clerk for Stanstead Abbotts Parish Council.  Jacky has taken over from Neville Townsend, who stepped down at Christmas with our thanks and good wishes!  We hope that Jacky will enjoy working with Stanstead Abbotts through 2011,  as we look forward to developing our Parish Plan, our Phase 2 village playground, the Riverside Festival for 2011 and a good entry for the Hertfordshire Village of the Year contest!
• Are you new to Stanstead Abbotts? Would you like to get involved in your community, have fun, and do it all within walking distance? .......... Here's how!! 
  •  Parish Plan:This year we are writing our Parish Plan, setting out what how we want to see our village and our community grow....  this means developing a picture of what we sort of village we want to have – and how we are going to make it so!  We have started this task with Guy Moody taking the lead.  Now we need to enlarge that team.   • Riverside Festival: This year’s (8^th) festival is to be on Saturday June 18^th; the Festival Committee will be glad of new members who like making things happen and having lots of fun along the way! No experience necessary!  It is very special to have ‘our own river’ and riverside green – and once again we look forward to the raft and duck races and a fun festival for all the family!  Don’t be shy - come and join us!  
  • Hertfordshire Village of the Year entry form has to be in by 5^th May!  Can you help us get it together? – and win!?  We are going to have a go this year, because we think this village has a lot to celebrate!   • The East Herts “Fund for The Future” is a charity set up to help individuals, groups and charities with revenue funding. This year, the Quiz is on Friday April 1^st at the Wodson Park Sports Centre, Ware at 7.00pm for a prompt start at 7.30.  £10 with a choice of supper.  This has become an annual inter-village competition, and last year the Stanstead Abbotts team were prevented from holding on to the trophy …. After being beaten by one point by a team from Great Amwell!  The honour of the village is at stake!!!  If you would like to join our team(s)  – contact Hilary Cullen email: hjcullensapc@live.co.uk
