Happenings in 2012!
There will be a meeting on Tuesday October 4th in Wilshere Hall at 7:30pm to plan and organise the Riverside Festival 2012, the Queen's Jubilee celebration, our once-in-a-lifetime Olympics celebration, and even before that - the Christmas 2011 village light switch on event! If you would like to be part of the Events Team and get to know your village in ways you hadn't thought possible - you will be especially welcomed! If you don't get involved in anything else local - or if you do - this is the one for you. We need your ideas, your community spirit - we need YOU!! So do come along and meet your neighbours, and take us merrily into what will be an extra special year for Stanstead Abbotts in 2012!! See you there? Village of the Year 2012 We will be (winning?) the competition this year, and are also keen to get involved in the Village in Bloom competition as well. As it is such a special year - we owe it to ourselves and our neighbours to show ourselves off to all the international visitors that will be visiting the Olympics down the road, and to do ourselves proud. Let's make the most of all the loveliness that is our High Street, our countryside, our community. If you are interested in the competition, as well as the development of the Parish Plan - which will form the bedrock of our planned village developments over the next few years - then get in touch and together we can make it happen!!!
Parish Council - Thanks to Chris Ashworth who has stepped down after 18 months of sterling work.
